Can I move my existing media library across?
Yes, for all three of these. MediaVerse Pro ships a WP-CLI importer for rtMedia, MediaPress and BuddyBoss Media that preserves original upload dates and author attribution, so a migrated library does not arrive looking like the admin posted everything yesterday.
Is this a gallery plugin like NextGEN or Envira?
Not quite, and the difference matters before you buy. Those build galleries you curate as the site owner. MediaVerse is for media your members upload themselves, which it then displays as galleries you can place anywhere. If nobody but you will ever upload, a gallery plugin is the simpler tool.
Do I need BuddyPress?
No. MediaVerse runs standalone with its own member library, profiles and galleries. BuddyPress is an integration rather than a dependency, and if you run BuddyNext instead, MediaVerse stands its own interface down and lets BuddyNext own the experience.
What does it deliberately not do?
It embeds media rather than processing it: there is no video transcoding, and no server-side document conversion. Nothing in either tier charges members for access to media. Replacing a file overwrites it, with no version history. Those are design decisions, written down rather than discovered later.
