MediaVerse and BuddyPress
photos in the activity stream
BuddyPress is the community plugin most of these sites already run, and this is the integration MediaVerse has spent the most code on.
How the pairing works
- Eleven dedicated classesActivity content and the activity form, activity and media linkage, an activity privacy filter, sync, profile tabs, group tabs and notifications. Not one shim doing everything badly.
- Privacy carries into the feedThere is a dedicated activity privacy filter, so a restricted photo does not become public the moment it reaches an activity item. This is the part integrations usually get wrong.
- Groups get their own media tabA group can hold its own media rather than everything landing in one site-wide pool.
What you can build with both
- A BuddyPress community where posting a photo to the feed is a first-class action.
- Group photo streams for chapters, cohorts or teams.
- Member profiles with a real gallery tab instead of an avatar and nothing else.
You do not need it
MediaVerse runs standalone with its own member library, profiles and galleries. BuddyPress is detected at runtime: present, MediaVerse hands over; absent, none of this appears and nothing breaks.
Run BuddyPress? Add the media layer.
The free plugin covers uploads, albums, privacy, galleries and moderation. Nothing expires and nobody counts your members.
